Tween 20 also known as polyoxyethylene sorbitan laurate, is a kind of transparent oily liquid from yellow to amber under room temperature, with slightly weak odor and bitter taste; it can miscible with water, ethanol, ethyl acetate and methanol to become mixed solution, while it is insoluble in liquid paraffin, mineral oil and oil ether; its relative density is 1.08 ~ 1.13, the boiling point of 321℃, the HLB value is 16.7.
TWEEN 20 Applications
Tween 20 is a kind of O/W emulsifier, it is widely used as solubilizing agent, stabilizer, lubricant and antistatic agent; it is used as wax agent in oil exploiting to remove wax in oiling well; it is used as viscosity reducer to reduce flow of crude oil viscosity so as to improve oil production and increase the transportation capacity; it is used as solubilizing agent, penetrating agent and as dispersing agent in chemical industry; and it is also used as lubricating oil and rust degreasing antirust oil.
